News: Authorities charge woman for fatal motorcycle crash in Marion

MARION, IA - According to KCRG, a woman has been charged for a fatal crash that killed a motorcyclist near Cottage Grove Ave SE and Highlands Ct on Wednesday.

A 60-year-old woman was heading north on Cottage Grove Ave SE when she tried to pass the vehicle in front of her and collided head-on with a 48-year-old man from Cedar Rapids riding a motorcycle around 7:06 p.m.

Authorities determined the woman was impaired due to her bloodshot eyes, smell of alcohol on her breath, and slurred speech. The woman did not submit to on-site testing. Authorities transported her to a correctional center to test her BAC, which was .109.

Authorities charged the woman with unsafe passing, OWI, and vehicular homicide.
