DAVENPORT, IA - Officials have identified the two people who died after crashing into a building at 601 W 2nd St on Sunday, according to KWQC.
Officers spotted a 30-year-old man driving a Chevy Impala recklessly at high speeds around 2 a.m.
Police attempted a traffic stop near 7th St and Division St, but the vehicle refused to pull over and sped away.
The driver was speeding east near 2nd St and Gaines St when he strayed off the road and slammed into a building around 2:06 a.m.
Rescue crews pronounced the 27-year-old female passenger dead at the scene and transported the driver to an area hospital, where he died.
