ANKENY, IA - A lightning strike caused a house to catch on fire on the 1000 block of NE Williamsburg Dr Thursday, according to KCCI.
The lightning bolt hit a playset in the backyard of the house. Pieces of it were scattered around the area.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the attic and fire engulfing the garage. They quickly extinguished the fire.
The family and their pets were able to exit the residence without injury.
