LINN COUNTY, IA - A head-on collision injured two people at W Mt Vernon Rd and Ballard Rd Friday, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

A 44-year-old woman was driving east on Mt Vernon Rd when she strayed into oncoming traffic near Ballard Rd and collided head-on with a westbound vehicle driven by a 22-year-old female around 6:07 p.m.
Rescue crews transported both drivers to an area hospital with serious injuries. A passenger in the 22-year-old's vehicle was not hurt in the incident.
The wreck is under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
