News: Motorcyclist hurt in Cedar Rapids crash dies from his injuries

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - The motorcyclist who crashed near Ellis Blvd and O Ave NW while fleeing from police on Wednesday has died, according to KCRG.

Officers attempted to pull over a 29-year-old male motorcyclist at 6th St and 9th Ave for not having a license plate when the motorcyclist sped off and ran a red light.

The motorcyclist continued to head north on Ellis Blvd at high speeds until they hit a bus at the intersection with O Ave NW.

Rescue crews transported the motorcyclist to an area hospital, where he died. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The bus driver was not hurt in the collision. Nobody else was on the bus.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
