News: Worker sues C6-Zero Iowa for injuries in plant explosion

MARENGO, IA - According to KCRG, a worker injured in the C6-Zero plant explosion at 810 E South St in Marengo on Dec. 8, 2022, is suing the company.

The plant, which recycles asphalt shingles, exploded and injured 12 people. The State Fire Marshall found the explosion to be accidental.

A worker and his wife say the company did not follow safety standards or have a sprinkler system.

The worker was fixing a conveyor belt on a running machine when it exploded.

The couple is suing for disfigurement, missed wages, and medical bills.

Another couple filed a lawsuit against the company in April. They are also claiming the company was negligent in protecting its employees.

C6-Zero agreed to pay around $100,000 in state fines for 11 serious violations. These violations included failure to maintain a sprinkler system, train employees, and write safety policies.
