DES MOINES, IA - A woman died in a crash near SW 8th St and Emma Ave on Thursday, according to KCCI.
A police officer attempted to pull over a driver with suspected fraudulent license plates near SE 5th St and Hughes Ave around 1:30 a.m.
The 46-year-old driver refused to pull over and led police on a short chase before crashing into a ditch on Emma Ave.
Rescue crews transported the driver and a 66-year-old female passenger to an area hospital. The man was admitted in serious condition and the woman died from her injuries.
The incident is under investigation by the Des Moines Police Department.
