DES MOINES, IA - A person lost their life in a house fire on the 5500 block of SW 3rd Place Thursday, according to We Are Iowa.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 1 a.m. They extricated a man from the house and transported him to an area hospital, where he died.
Another person and two dogs were able to exit the building safely and without injuries.
Investigators believe the fire started in one of the bedrooms and was accidental.
