JOHNSON COUNTY, IA - According to We Are Iowa, officials have provided additional details concerning the fatal semi-truck crash that happened on I-80 near mile marker 236 on Friday.
A 55-year-old male from Arizona was driving west on I-80 when he crashed into a ditch before slamming into a tree around 4:30 a.m. The semi-truck erupted in flames following the wreck.
Rescue crews pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the incident.
