News: Fire injures 1 person Haverhill

HAVERHILL, IA - One person was hurt in a fire at a farm Thursday, according to WHO 13.

Firefighters from multiple fire departments were dispatched to the property around 3:30 p.m. The blaze had started at a large farm building but had spread to the surrounding fields by the time emergency crews arrived at the scene.

Local farmers assisted the fire departments by creating a fire break using tractors and tilling equipment.

Rescue crews transported the property owner to an area hospital with serious burns.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
