News: Man dies after apparent crash into Marshall County pond

MARSHALL COUNTY, IA -- A 60-year-old man was discovered deceased Tuesday afternoon after an apparent crash into a farm pond near Laurel, according to We Are Iowa.

Deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office were called to the 3300-miles area of Marsh Avenue at about 2:00 p.m.

Authorities said a passenger car was found submerged in the middle of the pond.

The Story County Sheriff's Office Dive Team responded to the scene to help lift the vehicle from the body of water, which was partially frozen.

The victim, whose body was recovered at the scene, was determined to have died before the arrival of first responders.

An investigation was in progress, but authorities do not currently believe anyone else was involved in the fatality.
