WEST DES MOINES, IA -- A vehicle accident Monday evening closed all northbound lanes on Iowa Highway 5 near West Des Moines, according to Stateside Iowa 511.
The collision took place on the northbound lanes between IA-28 and Interstate 35. It was first reported by Iowa 511 at 5:15 p.m.

Only the right shoulder was initially blocked, but by 5:30 p.m., the right lane was also closed.

At 6:09 a.m., a section of the northbound interstate was shut down for several minutes.
The right lane then remained closed for nearly an hour until about 7:06 p.m., when all lanes were reopened to traffic.
