DES MOINES, IA - A 27-year-old man is fighting for his life after being attacked by two pit bulls outside The Fountains Apartments Thursday, according to We Are Iowa.
Police responded to the incident around 4 p.m. They found the victim unconscious and still being attacked by the two dogs.
The dogs did not leave and were continuing to attack the victim as officers approached them. The officers shot and killed one of the animals. The other dog ran away. It was later found and captured.
Officers performed life-saving measures on the victim until paramedics arrived and transported him to an area hospital.
Authorities have not released the victim's name.
