News: House fire on Haskell Street injures 2 people

FORT DODGE, IA - A house exploded and injured two people on the 300 block of Haskell St Wednesday, according to WHO 13.

A man and a woman had been sleeping in the living room when the explosion happened around 11:36 p.m. They had to crawl through parts of the burning home to escape the structure, and both suffered burns in the process.

A passerby helped the two victims until emergency responders arrived at the scene.

Rescue crews transported the two victims to an area hospital.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze.

Fort Dodge Fire Rescue is investigating the cause of the explosion along with MidAmerican Energy and the State Fire Marshal.
