MONROE COUNTY, IA – A man has suffered life-threatening injuries after his truck was was hit by a train late Wednesday morning.
WeAreIowa reports that the crash occurred on 160th Street northeast of Albia at around 11:30 a.m., when a man in a garbage truck drove across railroad tracks, was struck by an Amtrak train, and was then ejected from the truck.
The driver of the truck was airlifted to a hospital for his injuries. It is reported that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The engineer of the train also received injuries but did not go to the hospital.
