News: Police arrest hit-and-run driver for Marshalltown crash

MARSHALLTOWN, IA - According to WHO 13, authorities arrested a man on Monday for a hit-and-run accident on Aug. 10 near N 6th Ave and Union St that injured a nine-year-old girl.

A 57-year-old man was driving a dark-colored pickup truck when he allegedly collided with the girl while she was riding a bicycle around 1:20 p.m.

Rescue crews transported the girl to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The driver eventually returned to the scene and allegedly told authorities he was the driver who hit the girl.

Authorities charged the driver with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Injury. Authorities released the driver after his arrest. The driver has a court hearing on Oct. 9.
