DES MOINES, IA - According to WHO 13, a 35-year-old male is on trial for allegedly fatally crashing into another vehicle during a street race on the 1700 block of Fleur Dr on Dec. 13.
The defendant was allegedly driving a Genesis north on Fleur Dr in a street race against a 47-year-old male driving a BMW SUV when he crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic and collided with another vehicle.
A 4-year-old boy who was in the vehicle that was struck died in the crash.
Authorities charged the 35-year-old driver with Homicide By Vehicle – Reckless Driving and Homicide By Vehicle – Drag Racing.
The 35-year-old has pled not guilty to those charges. His trial began Wednesday.
