News: Police arrest driver connected to fatal crash on Fleur Dr

DES MOINES, IA - According to KCCI, authorities have arrested a man connected to the fatal crash on the 1700 block of Fleur Dr Tuesday.

Police believe the 35-year-old was involved in a street race and was driving a Genesis sedan north on Fleur Dr at speeds around 100 mph when he crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic and collided with a Honda Accord driven by a 38-year-old woman around 6 p.m.

Also inside the Accord were an 8-year-old boy and a 4-year-old boy. The 4-year-old died from his injuries.

The 35-year-old then struck a Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 40-year-old woman.

Medics transported everyone involved in the collision to an area hospital.

Authorities arrested the 35-year-old and charged him with reckless driving, speeding, drag racing, and homicide by vehicle. They are still trying to locate the other driver involved in the street race.
